How It All Started
The concept behind Lift With Purpose is very simple. As a person who was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP), I had the privilege of spending a great deal of time interacting with other people who have CP and other disabilities. As a result, I have learned many things. First and most importantly, don't take your abilities for granted. Secondly, I have seen firsthand the ever increasing cost that is accompanied with either being disabled or having a disabled family member. It is estimated that having a child with Cerebral Palsy will cost that family approximately 927,000 dollars over that child's lifetime. The cost associated with caring for someone with a spinal cord injury can be over a million dollars depending on the level of injury. These cost can range from adapting your home so it will be easier to get around, an accessible vehicle, or, and most often, the ever rising costs of medical equipment and physical therapy.
Lift With Purpose uses the fitness world as a way to assist disabled families who are having trouble acquiring the physical therapy or medical equipment they need. We host fitness based events and take the money generated by entry fees and pay for services or products that will assist in the recipient becoming more independent.
Since 2014 Lift With Purpose has assisted three different families and one nonprofit physical therapy clinic. We are looking forward to having many strong years to come.
